Download Festival Launch new website
Feb 12, 2010 - 2:08 PM - by Rogue

Update: The final 2 headliners have been announced. Rage Against The Machine and Aerosmith. Roll on June. We are now excited.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For the last few weeks Downloadfestival.co.uk has been a small holding page with a line up and ticket information on it, now however the new website is available, and looking mighty fine we must say! There is still no new announcements however we think there will be soon. Booked so far on the bill is the mighty AC/DC, Deftones, Them Crooked Vultures, Wolfmother, Volbeat, Megadeath, Motorhead, Bullet For My Valentine and Stone Temple Pilots.

Rogue Tomato already have their tickets for this year, so we are looking forward to it already, as soon as the sun comes out and a hint of summer fun arrives, the excitement will be unbearable.

On Monday the 15th, the final 2 headliners will aso be released to the world, so who knows who thats going to be eh...For some odd reason, I am hopeing for Status Quo, since they headlined MOR in 1982, I think it would be awesome to bring them back.

We' keep you posted. | www.downloadfestival.co.uk

Ex-Adler's Appetite vocalist Sheldon Tarsha's band TARSHA has just confirmed they will be performing live in support of ANVIL at House of Blues in Anaheim, California on Feb. 4th. "I met up with with ANVIL when I sang for ICON at Rocklahoma last year," stated Tarsha. "We ended up riding back to the hotel from the venue in the same limo. Tarsha also has another show scheduled at House of Blues Sunset Strip, in Hollywood, California opening for Steel Panther on Feb. 22nd.

After completing a US tour singing for Adler's Appetite last year, Tarsha independently released "The Singles EP" complete with a music video for the song "Second Life". Download Festival 2010
Jan 12, 2010 - 4:35 PM - by Rogue

Being pretty much the only European festival on the circuit that hasn't announced a single band yet, Live Nation's Download Festival 2010 has now kicked off with a brand new logo and new website. Well, we say new website, at the moment it is nothing more than a holding page, however our cources confirm the new website will be up and online at the time of first announcement which, again according to our sources will be at the end of this month (January).

So, who do we think it will be? Very strong rumours and self confirmations reveal that two of the headliners are likely to be Metallica and AC/DC as a self confirmation has been on both of their official websites.

We will keep you informed.

Mono
Jan 07, 2010 - 3:20 PM - by Rogue

RT presents Japanese orchestral rockers MONO. We decided to do a mini feature on these guys as even though they have been around for over 5 years and have 5 albums and a singles collection under their belts, we hadn't heard of them. We were very suprised at what we heard, in a very good way.

Well, it's 2010...Weird
Jan 05, 2010 - 11:16 PM - by Rogue

Ya know it sounds rather futeristic saying ''2010'' doesn't it. Strange. So, what's going to happen now....It's rather simple really, same stuff as usual. Things have been a little slow here over the last month being Christmas and new year so we havn't really had a chance to update a lot, you know how it goes, visiting family, getting plastered...Falling over on the ice...Hmm, Maybe that was just me. Heh, well nevermind. 2010 will bring many more new interviews for you all to sink your teeth into, and hopefully a few of you eager readers will post up on the forums and give us your opinions on things!!!!

We have also put up Episode 3 of the Heavy Metal Road Show so be sure to check that out.

Axl Rose lashes out online!
Feb 16, 2010 - 2:36 PM - by Rogue

Things got a tad heated on MyGNRForum.com last week when Guns N'Roses vocalist Axl Rose posted under the user name 'Dexter'. Axl lashed out at one of the forum moderators (and since relived of her duties) named 'Madison' with a string of abusive remarks due to the accusation that someone in the Guns N'Roses camp banned fans from wearing Slash gear inside the Winnipeg, Manitoba show as first reported by TMZ.com.

Axl posted, "What the f**k do you know? That's right! You don't know jack f**king sh*t you f**king ignorant, know it all, f**king deluded, misguided, self important, self righteous, pious, small minded, clueless, loud mouthed, arrogant c**t.

"No one needs your opinions n' having to deal with your constant abuse of privileges or the miniscule amount of power you've had here you wield like an angry, lesbian, wannabe, high school parking lot rent-a-cop always mouthing off like you're some kind of authority which you're far from. I have to say it saddens me you continue to babble your horsesh*t to unsuspecting fans n' any names n' numbers you have are of people like you who try n' hurt others to promote themselves at their expense. That's the only real thing you got bitch."

Rumoured Headliner acts for Download 2010 | Soundgarden & S.O.A.D
Feb 13, 2010 - 11:51 AM - by Rogue

Rage against the Machine and Aerosmith have been announced tonight. 5 More bands to be announced at half past midnight tonight.

This little snippet was posted on the Download Festival forums by vampyr . We shall find out on Monday the 15th if this is anywhere near true...:

Caught Lamb Of God in Newcastle on Wednesday night, fookin’ awesome show… Seen them a few times now and they’ve never been that great.

Anyway… A couple mates of mine hung around the venue afterwards, met all the guys and ended up in “For Your Eyes Only” the local strip club in Newcastle with Campbell, Willie and a couple of the roadies.
Earlier on in the night Chris Adler was speaking to crowds outside the O2 Academy and told the people they’d be playing Download this year along with System Of A Down and Soundgarden… Which was shortly followed by a comment along the lines of “**** I forgot they haven’t announced any of them yet, ah well just don’t quote me to Metal Hammer and we’re all cool”.

Exciting no? Lets hope it's true, S.O.A.D are awesome live.

The Black Daliah Murder lay waste to Bonecrusher Festival
Feb 12, 2010 - 3:33 PM - by Rogue
By the time the Black Dahlia Murder hit the stage, the audience has been subjected to over 4 hours of the heaviest metal around today. Necrophibic, Obscura, The Faceless, Carnifex, Ingested, and finally 3 Inches Of Blood have been non to subtly stirring this crowd up with such a sonic assault it almost seems miraculous to see them still standing, but standing they are.

The band waste little time to seize this opportunity, jumping straight into their powerful and tight set. Frontman Trevor Strnad is as energetic as the music his band are throwing out behind his vocals as he leaps about on stage in a clearly excited fashion. It is a refreshing site to see a band with such a passion, and an obvious belief in their music, and it's a site the fans clearly enjoy. The musicianship is strongly showcased throughout the entire set, with the guitars sounding crisp and relentless over the bass drum barrage that shakes the walls of the academy itself.

The set list is varied and encompasses a career spanning selection including obvious fan favourites 'What a horrible night to have a curse and 'Closed Casket Requiem'. Closing the set with the powerful and anthemic 'I will return' is the last nail in the coffin on a crowd on the brink of complete pit meltdown. Limbs fly with a reckless abandon to the swan song of a festival that can only be described as a huge success.

BoneCrusher!

Acts from all over the world with brutal metal as their common thread!

Armed with a new album on Metal Blade Records, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER require no introduction. The five-piece have several albums under their belt and have helped elevate death metal to the masses in part to their relentless worldwide touring. 3 INCHES OF BLOOD have help represent a more thrashy, old-school metal style complete with a new record on Century Media Records, bang your head and raise the horns! The veterans of the tour are undoubtedly Sweden’s NECROPHOBIC, who have been devastating since 1989 and still going strong – complete with a newly released album on Regain Records showcasing their unique mixture of black metal and death metal. Following the path of death metal giants such as Cynic, Nile and Cannibal Corpse, THE FACELESS take no prisoners by converting their formula of brutal metallic rage combined with outstanding technique and spacey hooks. Bringing more metal veterans onto the bill is Relapse Record’s OBSCURA. With members playing previously in Necrophagist, Spawn Of Possession and Pestilence their pedigree of death metal is through the roof with technical deathmetal heaviness. CARNIFEX haven’t let their relative newness in the metal scene stop from them from touring relentlessly around the globe in support of their Victory Records debut. Don’t miss this bludgeoning act in their element: the live setting. Opening up the tour is INGESTED. Hailing from the UK, these guys dish out slamming deathmetal packed with blastbeats to spare, don’t miss this act whose debut album has earned high praise from all over.

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER's singer Trevor Strnad has this to say: "We are very excited to be the drunken hosts of the Bonecrusher tour. In cooperation with the wonderful Avocado, we have assembled quite a brutal line up for all tastes of the extreme. We are to be joined in this merciless campaign by our bearded brethren in 3 Inches Of Blood, personal favorites Necrophobic, Carnifex, Obscura, The Faceless and one of the UK's finest, Ingested. You'd be a fool to miss such a killer line up! Come out to the show and leave in an urn... bones crushed!!!"
